| The Baton Rouge Square Quilt Block
The Baton Rouge Square quilt block is another great easy 5-patch quilt block. It has a lot of patches, but they are easy ones.
All you have to do is make the units, using the proper value, and put them together. There are 8 half square triangles, and 17 squares. Notice the harmony of the blocks in the picture at the top of the page. Although the blocks are different colors, the similarity of the value is what makes them look so good together. This is a great block to make from scraps. As long as you get the value correct, the color doesn't matter. 5-Patches make quilts quickly, if you size the patches at least 3 inches. If you make the patches finish at 3 inches, your blocks will finish at 15 inches. That makes for a quick quilt. Here is a visual of the Baton Rouge quilt block with a few other 5-patch quilt blocks.
