The Star on Star quilt block is a quilt block that is made using the split quarter square triangle for the points of the stars..

the grids of the star on star quilt block.As you can see from the picture at the left, it is a 9-patch quilt block.  Since there are so many other 9-patch quilt blocks, it is an easy block to fit into a quilt.

Decide on the the size of your patches or grids, and then cut the squares for the center and corners, and make the split half square triangles.  Be sure the value is correct with the split half square triangles so the points of the star and the background are different.
